Nanaimo is centrally located on Vancouver Island and offers all the amenities of a mid sized Canadian city with the added attraction of our coastal setting and the marine activities associated with a port city. Salt water fishing, cruising, sailing, the Port Theatre, specialty shops in the downtown and waterfront walkway are within 20 minutes of your accommodation at Lakeside Farms. For the golfer, Nanaimo is central to many fine Island golf courses you may wish to play. Nanaimo has become a destination point for divers with sinking of the HMCS Saskatchewan to form an artificial reef. For our Island guests visiting for the wide variety of shopping in Nanaimo we are only 6 minutes away from Vancouver Island's largest mall, Woodgrove Center, and many of the big box stores that draw people to Nanaimo.

If you are looking for a more relaxed, informal stay we offer you the use of our private dock and rowboat for a quiet time of fishing in Brannen Lake, observing the plentiful wildlife on the lake and lakeshore, such as the great blue heron, beaver, waterfowl and the occasional deer foraging on the pasture lands.

You are within a few minutes of the 70 kilometers of mountain bike trails developed by the local clubs which not only serve their purposes, but also opens up the forest areas for hiking or walking. Benson Creek Park offers another site of interest in Ammonite Falls and fossil beds dissected by the creek bed and falls, and is within walking distance of your accommodation.

Enjoy a game of bocce or horseshoes in front of your room and roast marshmallows in the open fire pit in the evening or simply visit the cows or chickens as they munch and peck their way through the day.
